Resonating Objects: Sound and Sculpture
This third year workshop looked at the readings and work of various traditional and contemporary sound artists. Various materials and metal techniques such as welding and bronze and tin casting were used as a starting point for the students to develop a new series of works that dealt with resonance. Readings and video links were provided as additional research components to the class. For the midway and final critiques sound artist Garth Erasmus gave each student feedback on their work and spoke about his own work and path as a sounds artist.
