Jean-Marie Malan
My recent practice at home further explores my formal interests. Specific focus is placed on how materials and objects behave, as influenced by the Minimalist movement. Drawing from my environment, I have been using materials and objects from the house and garden, dismantling, constructing, placing and re-seeing these objects in forms with simple gestures. Furthermore, I am interested in documenting, through photography and painting, allowing me a new perspective on what is already around me.
