WOODCARVING
2nd Year Fine Art Studio

In this class the students created sculptural pieces that explore the interconnectivity of animate and inanimate bodies in their environment.

To begin, they observed various bodies such as the human body, bodies of water, body of the landscape (stones, mountains, trees), animal bodies.

Drawing inspiration from these forms, each student created a series of sketches that explore these forms. Referring to these sketches, they then carved a form out of wood. Once this carving was complete, they experimented with the relationship of this form with found objects and materials.
